Elevator and New Community Staircase at Proa Building, Bellreguard Beach

This building has completed the integral rehabilitation of its outer shell with this accessibility operation. A hydraulic elevator with capacity for 3 people was successfully installed by demolishing its existing community staircase and constructing a new open staircase and an elevator shaft where THYSSENKRUPP installed an elevating device. This was accomplished through a strict interpretation of the urban planning regulations, which allowed for overcoming the original geometry of the building.

This delicate intervention began with the demolition of the existing staircase core and the execution of a new structural metallic frame with 2 supports anchored to a new reinforced concrete foundation, allowing the anchoring of a completely cantilevered new community staircase on which metal plates were designed to house the granite stone flooring.

All this metallic structure has been galvanized and thermocoated, section by section, to avoid welds or exposed sections, and assembled with bolted connections.

Following the previous principles of lightness, a gypsum board elevator shaft was created, along with a railing made of composite panels, resistant to all weather conditions, and a stainless steel baseboard that runs along the exterior side of the stairs.
